With the amount of adults owning mobile phones hovering around 80 percent, mobile Internet and applications are a growing trend in the job search stratosphere. Many major job searching websites have mobile versions or applications to help you stay organized and job search on the go.
How can you leverage your mobile phone in your job search? Here are a few ways:
Update your social networking sites on the go. Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and other networking sites have mobile versions and applications, making it simple to share content from anywhere. Bookmark these mobile versions of the big three networking sites to maintain your personal brand no matter where you are:
You can also download apps to organize your contacts and easily update your status. Apple has a whole list of social networking apps worth browsing through, and in a post from AppStorm, Joshua Johnson details 100 social networking apps that are sure to list something that interests you, such as Skype, Google Latitude, Hootsuite and Tweetdeck.
Use job search apps. Several job search websites have their own apps to help you mobilize your job search. Personal branding guru Dan Schawbel highlighted ten iPhone apps to manage your job search in an article on Mashable, including:
- Careerbuilder.com
- Now Hiring
- Job Finder
- ABContacts
- BeamMe
- Domain App
- Job Compass
- Craigster
- iJobs
Other useful apps, detailed in this post on Come Recommended’s blog, include:
- BeamMe CV
- BeamMe and Resume
- GoodJob
How else have you used your mobile phone in your job search? Any other apps you’ve found useful?
